Red axe in Flash Mobs

This is too bad... Police has asked Mumbaimobs.org to shut down and refrain from any such activity in future. Star News is reporting that Mumbai Police has given strict warning to the RohitT, the guy behind initiating the first ever recorded FlashMob in India, to suspend any such activity to bring together groups of people or FlashMobs. Talk of freedom and a democratic country of ours!!! Why the hell do they allow political rallies and marches, even they should be banned, more so for causing much trouble to the public in general.
So much for Delhimobs, service temp put into cold storage even b4 it cud go public! sad Time to check my legal advisors about the seriousness of the order!
P.S. First Yahoo Groups, now this, more to come, GET SET for more... maybe the GoI wants to beat China in this too

Who said what?

Hey Amit,

I appreciate your concern but it's not bad as it sounds (atleast on this blog). I got a call from the Deputy Commissioner of Police yesterday afternoon asking me to postpone & suspend Flash Mob#2 and other projects because certain temporary prohibitory orders are in force in Mumbai City (Section 37 of the Bombay Police Act). These orders are MUMBAI POLICE orders applicable temporarily in Mumbai. I doubt they'll ever come back to me saying "Ok - now you can go ahead with your Flash Mob Project". However, I will review my stand, once these orders are not in force any more. Yes, we can use words like "Constitutional & Fundamental Rights", "Freedom of Expression/Movement/Assembly", "Civil Liberities", "Democracy", "Subversion of Justice", etc - but most of the times these words are used rather loosely and out of context. I am supporting other Flash Mob projects in Pune, Bangalore, Delhi, etc. Heck - I can even conduct a Flash Mob lawfully outside the jurisdiction of Mumbai Police Limits! ;-). So let me know if you need any help from my side. I'll try and make it to Delhi for your Flash Mob. And hey, keep the fire burning!
